아니타 보그(1949-2003)

아니타 보그(Anita Borg)는 기술이 경제, 정치, 사회와 개인의 삶 등 모든 측면에 막대한 영향을 준다는 사실을 일찍이 깨닫고, “이유 있는 기술의 반항”이라는 신념 아래 기술의 긍정적인 영향을 알리기 위해 평생을 노력했습니다. 이러한 그녀의 신념은 1997 년 여성 공학인 단체를 설립하는 바탕이 되었고, 현재 이 조직은 아니타 보그 여성 공학인 협회(The Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology: www.anitaborg.org)라는 이름으로 아니타 보그가 남긴 열정과 신념을 많은 여성들에게 전파하고 있습니다.

장학금

아니타 보그는 기술에 대한 일반적인 생각을 바꾸고 여성과 소수민족의 컴퓨터 학계 진입을 방해하는 장벽을 허무는 데 일생을 헌신했습니다. 기술적 전문 지식과 열정적인 성격, 강한 신념을 가진 그녀의 모습은 많은 여성들에게 깊은 인상을 주어 적극적으로 참여하고 기술 발전을 주도하는 주체로 거듭날 수 있는 동기가 되었습니다.

이러한 아니타의 신념을 알리기 위한 Google 의 노력의 일환으로 'Google 아니타 보그 장학금: 아시아'를 발표하게 되었습니다. 이 장학금은 여성들이 컴퓨터 기술 분야에서 더욱 앞서 나가고 적극적인 역할 모델이 되며 리더로 성장할 수 있도록 장려할 것입니다.

장학생은 학생들의 학업 성적과 리더십, 그리고 컴퓨터 과학을 향한 열정을 기준으로 선발합니다. 지원자 중에서 여성 컴퓨터 과학 전공 학사, 석사, 박사 과정의 학생들이 장학금 선발의 대상이며, 선발된 장학생에게는 3,500 달러 상당의 장학금을 지급하게 됩니다.

모든 최종 후보자와 장학생은 소속된 구글 사무실에 초대될 것입니다. 또한 모든 장학생들은 Google Singapore 에 초대되어 유익한 행사에 함께 참여하실 수 있습니다. 유명 연사와 패널 강연, 중간 휴식, 친목 활동이 포함된 워크샵과 모든 이들이 한 자리에서 인사하고 토론하는 시간이 마련될 예정입니다.


지원 자격

지원자는 다음 자격 조건을 충족해야 합니다.

  • 정규 과정에 등록된 여성 대학생 또는 대학원생
  • 한국, 일본, 싱가포르, 태국, 말레이시아, 인도네시아, 필리핀, 베트남 소재 대학의 학생. 해당 국가의 국민, 영주권 소지자와 외국 국적의 학생도 지원할 수 있습니다.
  • 컴퓨터 과학, 소프트웨어 엔지니어링 또는 이와 유사한 공학 전공자
  • 학업 성적이 우수한 자


지원 방법
온라인 지원서를 작성하여 2012 년 6 월 3 일까지 필요한 서류와 함께 제출해 주십시오. 처음 방문한 경우 계정을 만들어 등록해야 합니다.


  • 이력서 - 리더쉽, 업무경력, 학력, 기술적 업적 사례 포함
  • 성적 증명서 사본
    • 학사: 현재 학업 성적 사본
    • 석사 및 박사: 이전/현재 학업 성적 사본
  • 추천서 2 개
    • 추천서는 지원자의 학업 및 리더쉽 경험에 대해서 평가할 수 있는 자격의 개인 (예 > 교수, 매니저 등)이 작성해주어야 합니다. 지원자는 온라인 지원시 추천인의 이름과 연락처를 적어주셔야 합니다. 입력하신 이메일 주소로 온라인 메일이 전달되어 추천서를 어떻게 접수하여야 하는지 설명이 나갈 예정입니다. 추천서는 2012 년 6 월 10 일까지 접수되어야 합니다.
  • 에세이 질문 3 개 (각 질문당 400-600 자 내외로 작성)
    • 담당하셨던 기술 프로젝트를 기술해주십시오. 만약 (석사, 박사과정 중) 전공 관련된 리서치 프로젝트를 진행하셨다면 , 해당 프로젝트에 대해 설명해주십시오. 문제에 대한 개요와 어떻게 문제를 해결하였는지에 대한 접근방법을 구체적으로 기술해주세요. 만약 그 프로젝트가 팀제로 이루어졌다면, 전체 팀에 어떠한 기여를 했는지도 적어주시기 바랍니다.
    • 최근의 경험 가운데 리더쉽을 발휘했던 사례를 들어주십시오. 구체적으로다른사람들에게 어떠한 영향을 끼쳤고 무엇을 달성하고자 했는지 설명해주십시오. 사례가 꼭 전통적인 리더쉽의 모습을 보여주지 않아도 상관 없습니다. 당신이 속한 기술관련 커뮤니티 안에서, 학교에서, 혹은 그밖의 다양한 기타 활동들 가운데에서 어떠한 리더쉽을 발휘하셨는지 2~3 년 내의 경험을 기술해주시기 바랍니다.

The area: Engineering and Operations

The Building Opportunities for Leadership & Development (BOLD) Diversity Internship Program for Summer 2012.
This program is designed to provide exposure into the technology industry for students who are historically under-represented in the technology sector. In addition to working on projects that tackle today's business problems, this 8-week paid internship provides students with personal and professional development programming, executive speakers and mentoring in addition to an insider's look at a business career at a technology company.

The role: 2012 BOLD Engineering Intern

This diversity of our employees and partners serves as the foundation for us to better serve our diverse customers and stakeholders.

Google is also invested in increasing the pipeline of future computer scientists and software developers, particularly those who are historically under-represented in the field. Many aspiring computer scientists could benefit from a program that bridges the gap between academic study and the profession. Google wants to inspire these students to continue in the field with such a program.

With this in mind, we announce the BOLD Engineering Internship in 2012. Current undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science or closely related will be selected to participate in this program.

The program will include a variety of components which will range from country to country to tackle the issues that we face in each unique culture:


  • Software Project: A development project that you will work on in a team of Googlers.
  • Skills-Based Training & Professional Development: Enhance your coding skills; get exposed to new tools and programming languages. Attend technical talks by Googlers.
  • Mentorship: Be matched with a Google engineer, other than your manager, to guide you through your summer experience.
  • Fun: Social activities, community building and networking. Build a relationship with your peers.
  • Exposure: A unique glimpse into applying your computer science studies in a professional environment.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Intern projects are determined based on the experience, skills, and interests of the student.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Be currently enrolled in a 4-year BA/BS program, majoring in Computer Science or closed related
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in systems software or algorithms
    • Have programming experience in either Java, Python, C, or C++
